Apparently this is where you come To have some conversation. Their menu has whiskey, beer, even rum Picking can cause consternation.

We have found a new place for Funday Sunday brunch and thy name is Whiskey Thief Tavern. Good solid food, a totally Instagram worthy decor, super customer service skills and $10 mimosas. I was had at $10 mimosas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I had made a reservation, but the place was surprisingly not packed. Just a side note, maybe it's an Evanston thing. The Queen and I were at Koi on Saturday and it was jammed, but not so much on Sunday when we walked by. So maybe Saturdays are the big brunch days in Evanston. The Doctor has been to Whiskey Thief on Tuesdays when they had trivia night and he said it was packed. The physical space feels like a Victorian establishment, with a library and fireplace to boot. There are lots of lovely mirrors hanging on the wall, booths that are made out of actual whiskey barrels, and high top tables made out of mining wagons...solid as hell and they have wheels on them. Great idea in terms of moving and rearranging them on a moments notice. Just make sure they are locked when you sit down :-) A lot of the wood used is re-purposed, so it has a old time feel to it. Even though there is a Victorian feel to it, it has a lot of TVs. I fell in love with the big one on the front wall with the three smaller ones next to it. I want that in my house. I could totally watch four shows at the same time...my multi-tasking skills are are at superheroine level. From the time we walked in, the service was great. The host was very friendly and seated us right away, even though not all of our party was there. We had a party of 8 and the service never slowed down. Our server was also great (didn't get his name); he was funny and attentive and kept the carafes of mimosa coming. The brunch menu was solid...breakfast foods, salads, burgers and sandwiches. I got the pork nachos with extra carnitas and asked for two over easy eggs on top to make it more brunchy. The portion was huge! I had almost half in the restaurant and there was plenty left over for dinner. This was a very good dish, but I made it better by adding some green salsa and Tajin to it...perfect. I also got the Belgium Waffle...nothing mind blowing, but it was good. My friend got the pancakes, but he was not wowed by them. He thought they were a nice size, just no wow factor. My GF does glutton free and the server had the kitchen prepare her the Southwest salad with salmon and a suitable dressing. Everyone else thought that their orders were very good. One friend got the impossible burger...he said it was great. His husband (pancake guy) had a bite as well and loved it. Both are big meat eaters, so if they loved it, it had to be good. The Doctor got Omelette with a side of bacon and enjoyed it very much. Another friend got the Prosciutto Caprese sandwich served on sourdough. He is very finicky and he cleaned his plate. Our server kept the mimosas flowing long after our plates were cleared as we were engaged in conversation and laughs. We had a great time there and look forward to hanging out there again. Whiskey Thief, you stole my brunch heart.

Speak-Easy | mood | brunch | sports Speak-Easy: the lighting, decorum, and overall style reminds you of a modern twist on a speak easy. Between the old school booths and tunnel/cove seating areas, you fill like you are in a secret night spot that has been around since prohibition. Mood: the low lighting and seating make the place feel intimate, but if you are not in a booth or 4+ person high top you are in side of your neighbors' conversation. Also, the plethora of screens make it so that the location doubles as a great space to have a date or watch a game a friends. Brunch: They have free mimosas during its brunch from 11-3 on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu lends itself to be best suited for massive brunch with ITS GREAT sourdough bread and varied types of fries. This feature makes me want to go back and check out the brunch scene. Sports: they have TONS OF FLATSCREENS! This place is ideal for big sports days. There isn't a bad seat in the house in terms of seeing multiple screens. This is a great spot to watch a game. Pro tip: No northwestern student discount. Pro tip: make sure you get bbq sauce with their sweet potato fries. AMAZING Pro tip: make a reservation and request a tunnel if you are going on a date Pro tip: don't get the ginger poppy seed vinaigrette if you are going on a date because the seeds will definitely get in your teeth. Lost a point ?: Overall it just didn't blow me away. I want to go back for brunch or trivia because I think this is when the restaurant is in its best light. Overall the food was good given the price point. But, the whole experience left me satisfied not excited to go back.

Very hip. Crazy ambiance. Cool place to go to with friends for a drink and some good foods. It was very busy on a weekend night, but there was no trouble finding seats at the bar. The calamari was tasty but could be a little lighter and crisp. The brownie with ice cream was amazing but quite decadent so try to share with a friend. I'd love to come back and sit in one of those booths with a big group of people.
